Ms. Collins (304)-
5th and 6th Grade Reading
In reading we have hit the ground running this school year.  So far we have been working on establishing classroom routines and behavior expectations.  Also we have been digging into the meaning of our ROAR (responsible, organized, accountable, respectful) words and added these words to the resource section of our notebooks.  As readers we have taken a reading inventory, analyzed media, determined the main idea of passages and enjoyed some self selected novels.

Over the next two weeks we will begin reading and responding to our whole class novels.  The 6th graders will be reading Wonder and the 5th graders will be reading The One and Only Ivan.  Using these novels as mentor texts we will begin literature circles, reading responses and take biweekly quizzes.
If you have anyy questions please feel free to contact me.
